Where Debbie stands

Debbie believes economic growth and protecting Half Moon Bay's character can go together. The City needs a healthy tax base, a vibrant downtown, and businesses that can succeed. Growth should be carefully planned, pay its fair share, and strengthen the community rather than create new costs for residents.

Debbie's record

• Half Moon Bay Library Debbie helped oversee the city-county partnership that delivered a modern 22,000-square-foot library downtown. It serves as a community and learning center for the Coastside, with meeting rooms, literacy programs and spaces for children and teens.
• A More Vibrant Downtown Debbie supports continued investment in downtown Half Moon Bay to make it more attractive, walkable and welcoming for residents, businesses and visitors. She supports carrying out the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan, including better pedestrian access, landscaping, public spaces, furnishings, art and infrastructure along Main Street.
• Hyatt Place & Balanced Development After years of environmental review, public discussion and design revisions, Debbie supported the Hyatt Place project. She concluded that the final proposal balanced hotel-tax revenue, jobs and business activity with the City's coastal planning requirements.

What's next

Debbie will continue working to strengthen the City's finances through careful staffing, better management of consultant contracts, updated purchasing practices and long-range budgeting.

She also wants a faster, clearer permitting process. City staff and applicants should agree on requirements early so appropriate projects do not spend years working through avoidable delays.

Debbie will continue supporting downtown businesses, local agriculture and tourism as essential parts of the Coastside economy, while investing in the public spaces and infrastructure that make people want to spend time downtown.
